A product roadmap generator that knows your product

Feature1 reads what your product already does, compares it with your strategy, and proposes the initiatives that close the gap, each with its reasoning. Your team edits it together, then plans the features.

Two minutes on the loop: strategy, roadmap, development, results, next decision.

What is a product roadmap?

A product roadmap is the plan for what a product will change next and why: the initiatives the team will work on, in what order, and how each one serves the product strategy. A good roadmap is about outcomes and changes to the product, not a list of dates.

Most roadmaps are built from a template or a backlog. They list features without saying what the product can already do, so the team plans work that exists, misses the real gaps, and loses the link back to the strategy within a quarter.

What makes this roadmap different

  • Built on what your product does. Feature1 reads the repository read-only and keeps a picture of your product's capabilities. The roadmap is the gap between that picture and your strategy.
  • Reasons, not just items. Each initiative says why: the user need it serves, or the competitor gap it closes.
  • Now, next and later. Initiatives are placed in lanes, so the order is clear without inventing dates.
  • Down to product changes. Each initiative breaks into capability changes, from how the product works today to how it should work.
  • Checked against your strategy. If an edit contradicts the strategy or drops a real user need, Feature1 says so before you commit it.
  • Stays true over time. When code merges, the capability picture updates, so the roadmap keeps describing the product you actually have.

From strategy to a roadmap your team can execute

  1. Write the strategy

A one-page Product Strategy Narrative from your goal, customers, competitors and priorities.

  2. Review the roadmap

Feature1 proposes three to six initiatives with their reasoning. Your team edits, comments and commits them.

  3. Plan the features

Each initiative becomes features with PRDs, user stories and acceptance criteria your developers and their coding agents build from.

Teams already working this way

  • SatoriXR. Delivery got faster and deciding became the constraint. They hired a second product manager, not a third developer, and the strategy and roadmap in Feature1 became the queue the developers pull from.
  • Jarshare. A Replit store with one unintegrated server file became a real product once its capabilities were written down and the next features were planned against them.

Product roadmap: questions people ask

What is a product roadmap?

The plan for what a product will change next and why: the initiatives the team will work on, in what order, and how each one serves the product strategy.

How do you create a product roadmap?

Start from a written product strategy and an honest picture of what the product does today. The roadmap is the gap between the two, expressed as a small set of initiatives in priority order, each with its reason. Then plan each initiative into features.

How does Feature1 generate the roadmap?

It reads your audience, goal, strategy, competitors and the capabilities found in your repository, then proposes three to six initiatives in now, next and later lanes. Each one is either supportive, meeting a user need, or differentiating, closing a competitor gap, and comes with its rationale.

Do I need to connect my codebase?

Connecting GitHub read-only lets the roadmap start from what your product actually does. Feature1 never writes to your repository. You can start from your strategy alone and connect the code later.

Can my team edit the roadmap?

Yes. Your team reviews, edits and comments before committing initiatives. If a change contradicts the strategy or removes a real user need, Feature1 points it out first.

What happens after the roadmap?

Each initiative breaks into capability changes and then features, with PRDs, user stories and acceptance criteria. Developers build from those with their coding agent over MCP, and the roadmap updates as code merges.

Is there a free trial?

Yes. Feature1 has a 7-day free trial with no credit card.
